'Disruptive Impact of Emerging Technologies on Land Warfare'
Army Design Bureau, Indian Army in association with Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), organised the 4thArmy Technology Seminar 2019 (ARTECH 2019) with the theme ‘Disruptive Impact of Emerging Technologies on Land Warfare’ on 11 January 2019 at Manekshaw Centre, Swarna Jayanthi Marg, Delhi Cantt, New Delhi as part of annual events of Army Day Celebrations.
The challenge of determining what constitutes a disruptive technology and could turn into a battle-winning factor is increasing with rapid developments in multiple fields other than Information Technology. Some of these include advanced materials, additive manufacturing, autonomous systems, directed energy weapons, and human performance enhancement. The exploitation of these and other technologies would depend to a great extent on their effective exploitation which would have to cover the strategic to the tactical spectrum of the conduct of warfare. The previous three seminars resulted in increased interaction and handholding of defence Industry and Academic Institutions. Nine new Make projects, seven Technology Development Fund projects and eight Army Technology Board projects have been taken up in the year 2018 as a result of increased interaction.
ARTECH 2019 was held over the course of a day and ran across four sessions namely:

- Plenary Session
- Session 3 - Technology and Future Battlespace
- Session 4 - Developing a Disruptive Ecosystem through Future Technologies
The seminar also hosted an experiential display of equipment which has the potential to yield disproportionate results on the battlefield, from over 30 companies besides several startups and for the first time, academic institutions such as Gujarat University, Amity University, and several IITs.
Hon'ble Raksha Rayja Mantri, Dr. Subhash Ramrao Bhamre graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the Seminar, while General Bipin Rawat, UYSM AVSM YSM SM VSM ADC, Chief of the Army Staff inaugurated the exhibition. Other key speakers included Lt Gen S S Hasabnis, VSM ADC, Deputy Chief of the Army Staff (P&S), Indian Army, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production), Ministry of Defence, Lt Gen Rajeev Sabherwal, VSM, SO-in-C, Indian Army Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, Dr. Pamela Kumar, DG TSDSI, Mr Jayant D Patil, Vice President, SIDM & Senior Executive Vice President (Defence) & Whole Time Director & Member of the Board, Larsen & Toubro Limited. In addition, DGs of various line directorates, eminent industrialists and academicians were also in attendance.
