Capability of the Indian Industry to Fulfill the Protective Gear Requirements of the Indian Armed Forces

 21st September 2021 | 1500 – 1800 Hrs | Virtual Platform

Protecting the soldier against ballistic threats is an essential aspect of combat performance and survivability. Soldier protection includes a variety of items such as body armour, helmet, ballistic boots etc besides vehicle and platform protection.

While there have been considerable technological advancements over the past few years, the soldier ‘worn’ ensemble continues to weigh approx 10 Kgs, which poses a significant challenge to their mobility, agility and comfort on the field.

To address these issues and map the Indian Industry's capability in this domain, SIDM is currently conducting a Study on the 'Capability of the Indian Industry to Fulfill the Protective Gear Requirements of the Indian Armed Forces'. The final study report shall be shared with the MoD, HQ IDS, MHA and all other concerned government stakeholders.

As a part of this Study, a Virtual Seminar is being organised on 21st September 2021, from 1500-1800 Hrs.

The aim of this webinar is to get a perspective of the Users & Industry on the existing domestic ecosystem for Protective Gear, identify the policy challenges that currently hamper the growth of the industry and the potential way forward for making India a leading manufacturing destination for protective gear items.
