Conference on Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys for Defence & Aerospace Applications
Aluminium and Aluminium alloys requirements in the Indian defence and aerospace sector are substantial and has become a strategic metal for national defence and security. Due to its advantages like light weight, high corrosion resistance, high stress corrosion resistance, high weldability, easy fabricability and excellent recyclability, Aluminium finds wide acceptance in the defence and aerospace sectors and makes it a metal of choice for Aerostructures, Battle Tanks (light weight armour), Warships (superstructure) as well as hulls for high speed attack crafts, satellites and missiles that now depend on lightness of weight for high agility and manoeuvrability.
The ‘Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020’ has included a pathbreaking provision for use of indigenous material in platforms offered to the Defence Forces by incentivization. The provision requires the defence forces to identify possibility of use of indigenous material in their projects, while submitting their Statements of Cases for obtaining AONs.
Against this background, the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) supported by Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence is organising a Conference on Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys for Defence & Aerospace Applications from 1000 – 1310 hrs on 23 July 2021 at Virtual Platform.
The objective of the Conference is to bring together relevant stakeholders on a single platform to deliberate the strategies for indigenous development and production of all types of Aluminum / Aluminum Alloys for defence and aerospace applications and to meet the current and future requirements of our Indian Armed Forces in line with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
