Outreach Webinars on Export Controls for Dual-Use Items and Munitions
In the past 5 years, we have witnessed the transition of the ‘Make in India’ initiative to the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign wherein several policy initiatives have been taken by the Government which aim to create a long-term momentum towards the growth of India’s strategic Industries(Defence and Space) in times to come.
With enabling policies in place, manufacturing and exports are bound to grow. As items used in the Defence and Space industry have large scale civilian / industrial applications, there is a need for greater understanding and awareness in the industry about India’s international commitments and export control compliance requirements to ensure that proliferation of these dual use items does not occur. Further, there are various sectors like materials, chemicals, biotech, electronics, telecom, IT, related engineering tech, etc. which deal in items having dual-use applications.
The Industry is the first line of defence against proliferation, and export control compliance by industry will further strengthen its credibility in the global supply chains. This would be beneficial for the Indian industry in increasing its opportunities for joint ventures, defence offsets, domestic manufacturing units, export markets, etc.
In this context, the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in partnership with the Government of India is organising a series of Outreach Webinars on India’s Export Controls for Dual-Use Items and Munitions. The first edition of the Webinar series is scheduled for 20th July from 1100 – 1250 hrs.
The Programme seeks to raise awareness about India’s Export Control System among various stakeholders, especially the various industries producing or exporting dual-use items (including MSMEs and Startups), so as to build a robust industry-government partnership in preventing the proliferation of dual use items.
