Seminar on Opportunities in Defence & Aerospace for the Industry - Hyderabad, Telangana
The third seminar in June 2018 on 'Opportunities in Defence & Aerospace for the Industry' was organized on 22 June 2018 at NI-MSME, Yousufguda, Hyderabad, Telangana.
The seminar brought together key stakeholders such as government officials, senior representatives of the three services, DRDO, Defence PSUs, and private industry, to deliberate upon opportunities in defence and aerospace, across the spectrum of large, medium & small industries and galvanize business engagements.
The Ministry of Defence has taken some important policy initiatives in the recent years, to position India as an emerging manufacturing hub. Several changes have been made to procure new platforms and to sustain the existing equipment to ensure operational capability of the Indian Armed Forces. These initiatives have paved the way for the creation of a robust defence manufacturing ecosystem in the country and promote the entire spectrum of large, medium & small industries.
With the due focus on a higher level of indigenization, opportunities in the defence sector are immense. The opportunities could come through meeting the requirements of Capital and Revenue procurements. A major source of opportunity, especially for the MSMEs in defence and aerospace, also comes in the form of being integrated into the supply chain of the business outsourced by large Indian OEMs from the public and private sector, Ordnance Factories, and Foreign OEMs.
Telangana has the benefit of having a strong presence of Armed Forces Academic Institutions, public and private sector in defence and aerospace. With several multinationals and domestic companies setting up manufacturing facilities to make a key defence, aerospace and naval components and systems, the state is well poised to play a key role in linking and supporting the new defence corridors announced in the Budget 2018.
